fashion: the printed skirt meets a really bright colour

Last week I bought a new skirt from Ted Baker’s AW15 collection, a tile floral printed midi skirt, found here. Not only am I in love with the fit of the skirt, I am in awe of the colours and details of the print. The combination of tiles and florals is fairly pale and dull, but touches of baby blue bring out brighter hues in the skirt.

I took the skirt home, and no matter which colour I put it against, it looked really damn good! White? Done. Black? Good. Red? Contrast. Green? Also works.

But my favourite of all was a bright royal blue. I happen to have a blazer from (if I remember correctly) Ted Baker’s SS14 collection, and a pair of shoes from Zara’s SS15 in a perfectly coordinated shade of blue. Putting those two pieces with the skirt, and a simple white cami, made for the perfect outfit. It was both fun and professional, and I felt like a million dollars.

My goal with this outfit, was to pair the skirt together with bright blue, and I was at an advantage to have two different royal blue pieces to do so. When it got too hot for the blazer, I still had the shoes to keep my outfit and original idea alive.

Although this is a fresh addition to my closet, I must say it will probably be one of my favourite pieces for the upcoming season.

Do you have a favourite piece that goes with almost anything?
