fashion: bringing white jeans into fall

One of the saddest things to do in early October is to bring a box to your closet, and pack away all the summer wear until May. My box has been standing at the foot of my bed for a week now, as I slowly collectively fill it with open-toe shoes, shorts, and sundresses. One particular item in my closet though, I wasn’t very eager to put away just yet. You guessed it – my white jeans.

The other day was quite cold (it’s already in the single digits in Celsius temperature!), but my white denim still got taken out. Having put together a white – beige outfit, they looked perfectly in place despite the cold weather.

Scarf: Wilfred – Aritzia

Coat: Mexx (so sad they closed it in Canada!)

Jeans: Lucky Brand

Shoes: Dolce & Gabbana

One of the biggest things that grinds my gears is a heavy dark coat put together with white pants. Because it seems like such a summery bottom piece, it is way too contradicting when placed with something like a black wool coat.

These jeans are from Lucky Brand (bought them a few years ago), and are called “Charlie Skinny” (you can find a similar style in rinse denim here.)

Putting on my taupe trench(ish) coat together with the jeans created just enough contrast in the two colours and pieces without disturbing the eyes. I then threw together my D&G sneakers with off-white and gold detailing, and an off-white/beige blanket scarf (I LOVE SCARVES). I bought the scarf a few days ago, and I barely take it off. I feel like it’s too early to be wearing a heavy coat, so the scarf helps me stay warm in my lighter fall coats.

Hopefully this post inspires you to keep your white jeans in your closet just a little bit longer! Don’t be afraid to play around with what you own, in order to be able to wear your favourite pieces more.
