A Beginner’s Journey to NYFW

A little over a week ago, on my birthday no less, I woke up to an email containing an invitation to the Francesca Liberatone runway show at New York Fashion Week (NYFW). Attending NYFW is not something I dreamed of since I was a little girl, but definitely since I started my blog in August 2015. To say I was ecstatic is an understatement, but I did realize it entailed quite a bit of commitment. The next few days I got more and more invitations flooding my inbox, but unfortunately due to my university and work commitments, I had to miss out on majority of the shows I was invited to. That didn’t stop me from making it out for the weekend to NY. Continue reading

Travel Diary: 24 Hours in Ottawa

If you know anything about me, you know I’m a wanderluster, and it’s not long after getting home from a trip that the travel bug hits me again. Unfortunately, due to the restrictions of time (ah, student life), distance, and money, it was challenging to plan a getaway.

Thankfully, Ottawa is just around the corner from Toronto when compared to any other destination. Since neither the boyfriend nor I have ever been before, we decided that it would be the perfect destination with our time and budget constraints. Continue reading

How To Ruin a Tour, But Leave A Great Impression

If you’ve been keeping up on Instagram and Twitter, you know we took a trip down to Las Vegas about a month ago and had the opportunity to escape the city to see the Grand Canyon in Arizona for a day. It was great to finally experience The Strip, see the zombies sitting in casinos at 6:00am (still, or already?), drink a Fat Tuesday while walking down the street, make $40 off of $10 at a Roulette table (at our hotel, Caesar’s Palace), get a tan by the pool, and take every risky photo possible at the Grand Canyon.

Though my Instagram feed would imply that the trip was perfect from start to finish (isn’t that the point?), there was definitely a hiccup. Continue reading

things to keep in mind when booking your beach vacation

Being a little bit of a beach addict, I can’t help but take off down south as soon as I get the chance. It may sound crazy, but sometimes I actually prefer the liberty of taking an all-inclusive vacation over an adventurous trip elsewhere. You literally lie on a beach all day reading books, and not having a single worry. Don’t get me wrong, a euro-trip is amazing, but there is so much preparation that goes into it, and then so much you want to accomplish during the trip, that it doesn’t feel much like a vacation at all (which isn’t a bad thing either!). Vienna: a strudel a day

Coming to Vienna, I was on the search for the best Strudel. I mean if there’s a place to search for it, then it’s definitely Vienna, Austria. That’s why in the short time that I was there, I set out to try as many apple strudels as possible (alright, on average one per day). And here is the conclusions I came to, judging each place by atmosphere, quality of cappuccino, and of course, quality of strudel. Continue reading

going to the Vienna State Opera (or any theatre, for that matter)

During my time in Vienna, I had the pleasure to attend the famous Vienna State Opera and watch A Masked Ball, Opera by G. Verdi. The evening was beyond magical, especially never having attended a live opera.

What blew my mind, and kind of ruined the atmosphere, was how some (presumably American) tourists chose to dress and behave for the evening. Jeans, Timberland boots, baggy sweaters, and standing at the bar drinking beer straight from the bottle neck. I watched in horror, as I stood in my high heels and dress, sipping champagne. why I will NEVER book with Expedia again

I have a lot of experience with booking travel plans due to my past competitive dancing career. I was literally heading to Toronto Pearson Airport twice a month, whether to fly out to Calgary to compete for a weekend, or a 2-week trip around the world for training and world championships. I’ve been through it all. And along the way, I’ve tried a lot of the 3rd party travel sites. Last year I had a less than pleasant experience with Cheap-O-Air, but surprisingly, my recent experience with Expedia takes the cake. Continue reading
